Because of the enchanting play of colors on its leaves, the generic name of which was chosen in honor of the German naturalist Georg Marcgraf, it is also called rainbow Marcgravia, because its young leaves initially appear bright red and then turn a rich green as they mature. It is easy to care for, belongs to the shingle plants and is also very suitable for keeping in terrariums due to its climbing properties and its compact growth.
• Delivery: You will receive a scion with aerial roots.
• Growth type: climbing
• Origin: rainforests of Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Panama
• Other names: Rainbow Marcgravia

Ben's care tips:

  • We recommend keeping the cutting in moist sphagnum moss until it has rooted. Then it can be potted in the soil recommended under the point substrate.
• Location/light requirements: bright, but avoid direct sunlight.
• Substrate: Ben's Premium sphagnum moss, orchid soil
• Temperature: optimal at 24-28° C (day), 18-22° C (night)
• Watering: Keep the substrate moist and water as soon as the upper substrate layer begins to dry with lukewarm water that is low in lime, but avoid waterlogging.
• Humidity: needs relatively high humidity, spray regularly (leaves should be allowed to dry afterwards!) or keep in the terrarium
• Nutrient addition: moderately every 6-8 weeks in spring/summer with diluted organ. Fertilize with liquid fertilizer
• If possible, always water below the leaves and avoid water on the leaves.
