As the distinctive leaves of this fern branch out like antlers as it matures, it is also known as the elkhorn fern. The fronds have a matt silvery-green hue and are covered with fine hairs, giving it a distinctive appearance. In the wild, it grows as a lithophyte on stones and is therefore suitable for keeping in a mounted form.

Ben's tips on plant care:
- Location/light requirements: partial shade to light, without direct sunlight
- Substrate: tied to Xaxim or in peat-free potting soil with drainage
- Temperature: optimal at 24-28° C (day), 22° C (night), do not allow to cool below 15° C
- Watering: spray when tied up approx. once a week (avoid leaves or allow to dry well!), otherwise only water moderately when the substrate begins to dry, using lukewarm, low-lime water. Avoid waterlogging at all costs. Water less in winter.
- Humidity: requires high humidity, use a humidifier or place it in the terrarium
- Addition of nutrients: No fertilizer required in the first year after repotting, then fertilize moderately every 2-3 weeks in spring/summer with diluted liquid fertilizer, less frequently in winter
- Avoid draughts.
- If the plant is not mounted, repot about every 2-3 years when the soil is densely rooted.
