This set of various plants, which are well suited to an agate snail terrarium, has been individually put together by us.
The following plants are included in the set:
3 x bromeliads of the genus Neoregelia
1 x Pilea involucrata
1 x Fittonia spec. ground cover
1 x Hypoestes ground cover
1 x Calathea
1 x Philodendron
Bromeliads are a good option as they retain moisture and create a natural environment for the snails. Here in the set we have chosen Neoregelia. Fittonias (Fittonia spp.) are small, ground-covering plants with colorful leaves that provide a beautiful look and can also serve as a hiding place.
We have selected plants that meet the needs of snails. It is advisable to check the plants regularly and replace them if necessary if they are damaged or eaten by the snails.
Depending on availability, the plants may differ from the photo.
Ben's tips for keeping agate snails:
Substrate: A substrate that retains moisture well should be used, but waterlogging should be avoided. Our Ben's Snail Soil substrate for agate snails is specially designed to meet the needs of agate snails and is therefore ideal for keeping them.
Humidity: Agate snails require high humidity. To maintain this, spray the terrarium regularly with water.
Hiding places: In order to feel safe and stress-free, snails need sufficient hiding places. Moss, pieces of bark or small caves placed in the terrarium are suitable for this.
Plants: Plants should be able to serve as hiding places and climbing opportunities for the snails. They should also like moist conditions and be non-toxic for the snails.
Temperature: Agate snails prefer a temperature between 20-25°C. The terrarium should therefore be kept in a place where the temperature remains as constant as possible.
Food: A varied diet for the snails should ideally consist of fresh fruit, vegetables and lime. However, to prevent mold growth, the food should not be left in the terrarium for too long.
Cleaning: Dead plant parts should be removed regularly and the substrate replaced if necessary. To prevent mold growth, care should also be taken to ensure that the terrarium does not become too damp.
It is important to check the terrarium regularly to ensure that the conditions meet the snails' needs. The snails' behavior indicates if they are healthy and active.
