Masdevallia striatella ist in Kolumbien, Costa Rica und Panama verbreitet. Sie kommt in Höhenlagen von 400 bis 2000m vor und kann daher auch temperiert bis warm im Terrarium kultiviert werden. Sie erhalten eine etablierte, blühfähige Pflanze. Im Terrarium sollte sie auf Xaxim aufgebunden werden. Es eignet sich ein kleines Stück Xaxim und etwas Moos. Sie kann auch auf der Fensterbank oder im Gewächshaus kultiviert werden.
