With its shimmering dark green fronds, this fern growing on a black lava rock is as unusual as it is decorative. Although its leaf shape is similar to that of the golden spotted fern, unlike the latter it is small enough to be ideal for keeping in a terrarium. As it does not require much light, it can also be kept in darker locations and is also relatively easy to care for.

Ben's tips on plant care:
- Location/light requirements: semi-shady to bright, without direct sunlight
- Substrate: as an alternative to keeping on the lava stone, either mounted on Xaxim or in peat-free potting soil with drainage
- Temperature: optimal at 22-28° C (day), 15-20° C (night)
- Watering: There should always be water in the water bowl so that the lava stone can soak up and thus supply the fern with moisture. Use lukewarm water with a low lime content.
- Humidity: requires high humidity, use a humidifier, spray regularly or place in the terrarium
- Addition of nutrients: In spring/summer only fertilize moderately every 2-3 weeks with diluted liquid fertilizer, less frequently in winter
- Avoid draughts.
