As its name suggests, this Vriesea can reach an impressive size, at least in the wild, where it can grow up to 100 cm tall. In terrarium culture, however, it remains significantly smaller, which is why it is also suitable for keeping in larger terrariums. Its pretty striped leaves make it a decorative eye-catcher that also has practical uses, as tree climbing frogs of the genus Oophaga like to use it for brood care due to its ability to collect a lot of water.

Ben's tips on plant care:
- Location/light requirements: bright, without direct sunlight
- Substrate: mounted on Xaxim or in peat-free potting soil with a low pH value and good drainage
- Temperature: optimal at 18-26° C (day)
- Watering: when mounted, spray approx. once a week (avoid leaves or allow to dry well!), otherwise only water moderately when the substrate begins to dry, using lukewarm, low-lime water. Avoid waterlogging at all costs. Water less in winter.
- Humidity: requires high humidity, use a humidifier or place it in the terrarium
- Addition of nutrients: Fertilize only moderately every 4-5 weeks with diluted liquid fertilizer.
- Avoid draughts.
- If the plant is not tied up, repot about every 2-3 years once it has taken root.
