Its dark green to burgundy leaves have a velvety texture and are interspersed with fine cream-colored veins, which alone makes this jewel orchid an eye-catcher. With good care, it also enchants with racemose inflorescences of delicate yellow flowers. It prefers to be kept in a terrarium, but can also be cultivated on a windowsill if its need for high humidity is taken into account.

Ben's tips on plant care:

- Habitat/Light requirements: bright without direct sunlight.
- Substrate: orchid soil, well-drained houseplant soil
- Temperature: optimal at 22-26° C (day), 18° C (night), do not let cool down below 16°C
- Watering: keep substrate moist and water about every 7-10 days, when the top layer of substrate starts to dry, with lime-poor lukewarm water, but avoid waterlogging. Water less in winter.
- Humidity: needs high humidity, use humidifier or place in bathroom or terrarium.
- Nutrient addition: in spring/summer about every 8 weeks only moderately with liquid fertilizer.
- Pay attention to even watering, because the plant does not tolerate waterlogging neither a complete drying out.
