The light green, tubular leaves of this decorative Sarracenia are covered with a purple-red lattice pattern as they mature, which becomes so dense over time that it makes the tubes appear completely purple-red. As they resemble small trumpets in shape, they are also known as trumpet plants. As a carnivorous plant, it catches small flies, mosquitoes and other insects from the air and draws its nutrients from them, which is why it should never be fertilized.
The product photos show examples of the plant. You will receive a specimen that corresponds to the product photos in terms of size, shape and color.
- Growth type: Upright
- Origin: Canada and USA

Ben's tips on plant care:

- Location/light requirements: sunny to bright, but avoid permanent intense sunlight
- Substrate: Ben's Carnivorous Plants Soil
- Temperature: optimal at 20 to 27° C
- Watering:  Ensure that the substrate is permanently moist when keeping them in a terrarium. Only use lukewarm water with a low lime content. If kept indoors, we recommend waterlogging, i.e. placing a saucer under the pot with a small amount of water and topping it up regularly.
- Humidity: requires high humidity, use a humidifier or place in the terrarium
- Addition of nutrients: Do not add fertilizer as the plant gets its nutrients from its prey.
- If the pot becomes too small, repot only in summer during the growth phase.
- When keeping in a terrarium, ensure that the terrarium is well ventilated.
- The tubes should always be filled with rainwater as, unlike other Sarracenias, it produces almost no digestive fluid.
