Jewel orchid in a 5.5 cm pot, a very beautiful species with unusual leaf markings. It can be cultivated in a terrarium or on the windowsill.

Anoectochilus sikkimensis belongs to the genus of jewel orchids, which are also known as ornamental leaf orchids, as they impress with their unusual leaves. With its beautiful dark red velvety leaves and gold-colored veins, this Anoectochilus is an elegant eye-catcher. Due to its delicate growth, it is also well suited for keeping in terrariums and bottle gardens.

Ben's tips on plant care:

- Habitat/Light requirements: bright without direct sunlight.
- Substrate: orchid soil, well-drained houseplant soil
- Temperature: optimal at 22-26° C (day), 18° C (night), do not let cool down below 16°C
- Watering: keep substrate moist and water about every 7-10 days, when the top layer of substrate starts to dry, with lime-poor lukewarm water, but avoid waterlogging. Water less in winter.
- Humidity: needs high humidity, use humidifier or place in bathroom or terrarium.
- Nutrient addition: in spring/summer about every 8 weeks only moderately with liquid fertilizer.
- Pay attention to even watering, because the plant does not tolerate waterlogging neither a complete drying out.
